From this picture of Britain last month, you can see that with winters in Kansas we must get super bundled up to go outside! Well, I'm lazy and don't like to put on a coat or shoes to go get the mail...I just throw on my slippers, take a deep breath and sprint to the mail box as fast as I can. Brit usually doesn't even notice that I'm gone for that 20 seconds....until yesterday that is!
I ran out to the mailbox and as I was coming back I could see the doorknob on the door turning. I figured he was just turning the knob, but when I got to the door, the dead bolt was locked! The little stinker had turned it enough to lock it but of course didn't know how to undo it despite my coaching him through the door. By this point I was freezing, had on my slippers, no make up, and was in somewhat of a panic. I tried to talk him through it, but he just kept saying, "Mommy, outside?" I yelled in and told him to go play with his toys and I'd be right back. I sprinted down the street to my friend Katie's house for our spare key. She had one, but it took her a while to find it. Luckily she did and saved the day. I ran back home and opened the door to find Britain playing with his toys, but looking at me like..."am I in trouble?" Of course he wasn't, he's too cute! Every day, I'm finding less and less things that I can get away with doing because he's getting big enough to get into everything and figure me out!
Needless to say, I will now be getting the mail when he goes down for his nap!

That's too funny. Cody did that to me once, not in the dead of winter though and luckily our sliding glass door was unlocked. Those little twerps, they are cute but espically boys are very mischevious!
Brooke, that is hilarious! I can just picture you trying to talk him through it through the door. So funny.
So, I was just looking at your blog to bring myself up to speed on you and what do I see bouncing around the right side???? Baby #2??? CONGRATULATIONS!! Do we know what kind of baby we're having? I need details! So exciting!
Fill me in!

that is so funny, I have actually been locked out of my appartment doing the same thing getting the mail three times. At first I panacked, having to leave my babies in the house alone while I ran to the front office to get a key, now my neighbor has a key, I do it so often. Cami now knows the drill,
That's the greatest! I needed a good giggle. How are you feeling?
You should ask my mom about the time that she got locked out of the house at 10o'clock at night, 8 months preg and in nothing but her G's.
Ha! Brooke, that is too funny! And all too familiar actually. Good thing you're smart and gave a neighbor a spare. I keep thinking I should do that. I guess I'm just waiting for an experience like yours before I actually do it. :)
