Thoughts of a Mom....

As I was going to bed a couple of weeks ago, I went to turn off the lamp and my eyes glanced at my night stand. My head started filling with different thoughts by just seeing what was on it. My glasses, the T.V. remote, a binky, and the May issue of the Ensign. This poem came to my mind so I quickly wrote it down. I came across it again today and thought I'd share. It's nothing much more than a little reassurance that a lot of us think a like and worry about the same things!

Thoughts of a Mom

Eyeglasses and binky on my bedstand
A picture of the prophet waving his hand
A T.V. remote stacked to the side,
it's a key to the world too stuffed full of pride.

This is what I see as I turn off the light,
It leaves me reflecting this warm summer night...

A prophet is warning and leading the way,
my eyeglasses help me see clearly and I say,
"Did I do all I could today to be a great and happy mom?
Changing diapers, tickling tummies and giving binkies to calm?"

And so it is now while they are so young
But soon the diapers will go and the lullabies will be sung
Have I prepared them enough to take on the world?
Will they cling to the gospel as their own banner unfurled?

A lot more to be taught, more stories to tell
More growing in height and many more tears will swell, but
As I turn off my lamp, my head will bow and say,
"I thank thee, dear Father, that I could be a Mom today."
